Our take
Electronic City is a large IT township on Hosur Road, around 18 km south of the city centre, with roughly 200 company campuses including Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech, TCS and Biocon. The core industrial area is run by its own township authority (ELCITA), while the residential pockets around it, like Neeladri Nagar and Doddathoguru, grew up outside city limits and show it. Since August 2025 the Yellow Line metro has made getting to Silk Board and Jayanagar much easier.
The vibe▾
This is a work-first suburb: weekday mornings and evenings are busy with office cabs and two-wheelers, and weekends are noticeably quieter. Most renters are young IT staff, so PGs, co-living houses, darshinis and cloud kitchens are everywhere, especially in Neeladri Nagar and around the Phase 1 gates. Inside the ELCITA township roads, lighting and security are better kept than in the surrounding village-origin layouts, where roads and drains are patchier. Nightlife and big malls are thin on the ground, so most people head to Koramangala or HSR for that.
Getting around▾
The Yellow Line (RV Road to Bommasandra) has stations at Beratena Agrahara, Electronic City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Huskur Road, Biocon Hebbagodi and Bommasandra, and as of late July 2026 trains ran about every 7 minutes at peak and about 10 minutes off-peak, with BMRCL aiming for roughly 5 minutes once all 15 trains are in service. By road, the 10 km tolled elevated expressway to Silk Board skips Hosur Road signals; from July 2026 a car pays Rs 65 one way or Rs 1,960 for a monthly pass. The expressway is not immune to rain: on 16 Sep 2026 water stood on it for hours and caused a long jam. Getting to Outer Ring Road tech parks still means going through Silk Board, which is slow at peak.
What you pay▾
Electronic City is one of the cheaper places to rent near a major IT cluster. NoBroker's 2026 locality pages put 1BHKs from about Rs 7,000 in Konappana Agrahara or Hebbagodi to Rs 18,000 to 30,000 for newer flats in Phase 1, and 2BHKs from roughly Rs 12,000 to 45,000 depending on the pocket and whether it is a gated society. PG beds in Neeladri Nagar run about Rs 6,000 to 16,000 a month depending on sharing. Budget for water: hard borewell water is a common complaint, so factor in a softener or RO and possible tanker charges in summer.
What's great
- Walk, cycle or take a short ride to the big campuses
- Rents well below Koramangala, HSR or ORR
- Yellow Line metro at 6 stations in and around the area
- Lots of PGs and co-living, easy to find flatmates
Keep in mind
- Far from the rest of the city; Silk Board is the bottleneck
- Patchy roads and drains outside the ELCITA township
- Hard water and summer shortages in some pockets
- Limited nightlife, malls and green space

Electronic City Phase 1Best for: Infosys, Wipro and Velankani Tech Park staff, People who want an established gated society▾
Phase 1 is the original township, home to the Infosys headquarters, Wipro's EC5 block, HCLTech and Velankani Tech Park (IBM, Accenture, Siemens, Capgemini and others). Electronic City metro station sits right here, next to the elevated expressway. It has the most established societies and services in the area, and the highest rents.
Good
- Electronic City metro station is at the Phase 1 end of the expressway
- Walking distance to Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech and Velankani Tech Park
- NoBroker residents rate safety 4.5 out of 5, helped by campus security and activity
- Most schools, hospitals and groceries in the area are concentrated here
Watch out for
- ! Highest rents in the area: NoBroker lists 1BHKs at Rs 18,000 to 30,000
- ! Peak-hour snarls on Hosur Road at office timings
- ! Area-level: hard water is a common complaint across Electronic City

Electronic City Phase 2Best for: TCS, Tech Mahindra and HPE staff, Renters who want a newer flat for less▾
Phase 2 is the newer, larger-floorplate side of the township, with Tech Mahindra, HPE, Bosch, GE and TCS's 360 Business Park, which began opening in 2026. Housing here tends to be newer apartments at somewhat lower rents than Phase 1. Exit C of Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara metro station serves Phase 2 directly.
Good
- Konappana Agrahara metro station has an exit (C) on the Phase 2 side
- Newer apartment stock, with rents reported 10 to 20 percent below Phase 1
- Close to TCS, Tech Mahindra, HPE and Bosch offices
Watch out for
- ! Fewer established shops, schools and services than Phase 1
- ! Farther from Silk Board, so road commutes to the city are longer
- ! Area-level: hard water and summer shortages are reported across the area

Neeladri NagarBest for: Freshers and PG residents, Flat-sharers who want to be close to Phase 1 campuses▾
Neeladri Nagar is the main renter and PG hub in Phase 1, packed with independent buildings, small apartment blocks, PGs and co-living houses, and most major campuses are 10 to 15 minutes away. The trade-off is civic infrastructure: internal roads are patchy and Deccan Herald named it among the areas waterlogged after heavy rain in October 2025. It is not right next to a metro station, so most people use autos, bikes or office cabs for the last stretch.
Good
- Densest choice of PGs and co-living in Electronic City
- PG beds from about Rs 6,000 (triple sharing) to Rs 16,000 (single)
- Short ride to Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech and other Phase 1 campuses
Watch out for
- ! Named among waterlogged areas after heavy rain in October 2025
- ! Patchy internal roads and drainage problems on some streets
- ! Parking is tight for car owners in the denser lanes
- ! No metro station inside the locality

DoddathoguruBest for: Budget renters working in Phase 1, Flat-sharers▾
Doddathoguru is one of the original villages Electronic City was built on, and now a dense residential belt next to Phase 1 that is administered by a town panchayat rather than the city. It has a long record of civic complaints: The News Minute reported in 2016 that roads turned to mud and the area flooded for about a day after heavy rain. Things have moved since, with new roads laid in 2024 and Doddathoguru Lake restored by the Infosys Foundation in 2025, but check your specific street before signing.
Good
- Close to Phase 1 campuses and the Infosys and Wipro gates
- Doddathoguru Lake restored in 2025 with a walking track and open-air gym
- Panchayat laid new roads in 2024
Watch out for
- ! 2016 report of mud roads and day-long flooding after heavy rain (older, but check your lane)
- ! Run by a town panchayat outside city limits, so civic services vary street to street
- ! Area-level: hard water and summer shortages are reported across Electronic City

Konappana AgraharaBest for: Budget renters and bachelors, Metro commuters▾
Konappana Agrahara is the other original village of the township, sitting between Phase 1 and Phase 2 around the Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara metro station. It is one of the cheapest pockets in the area, with NoBroker putting average 1BHK rents around Rs 7,500 and 2BHKs around Rs 17,000. Residents flag summer water shortages and construction noise.
Good
- Own metro station, with exits on both the Phase 1 and Phase 2 sides
- Some of the lowest rents in Electronic City
- NoBroker residents rate safety 4.5 out of 5
Watch out for
- ! Water scarcity reported in summer in some parts
- ! Noise and dust from ongoing construction
- ! The metro station only has two-wheeler parking
- ! Peak-hour congestion on Hosur Road

Hosa RoadBest for: Metro commuters to Electronic City or Silk Board, Couples and small families on a budget▾
Hosa Road runs west off Hosur Road a few km north of Electronic City, toward Begur, and has its own Yellow Line station. It is cheaper than Phase 1 (NoBroker lists 1BHKs at Rs 7,000 to 10,000 and 2BHKs at Rs 12,000 to 21,000) and has PNR Felicity and Centro malls plus Narayana hospital nearby. Peak-hour traffic is heavy and low-lying pockets waterlog in the monsoon; Deccan Herald listed Hosa Road among areas flooded in October 2025.
Good
- Hosa Road metro station, two stops north of Electronic City
- Lower rents than Phase 1
- Malls, hospitals and schools within easy reach
Watch out for
- ! Listed among waterlogged areas after heavy rain in October 2025
- ! Heavy peak-hour traffic on Hosa Road and Hosur Road
- ! Parking near PNR Felicity Mall is often short

HebbagodiBest for: Biocon and Syngene staff, Budget renters who can rely on the metro▾
Hebbagodi is a separate municipal town just south of Electronic City, home to Biocon's campus and the Yellow Line depot, with the Biocon Hebbagodi metro station. Rents are low (NoBroker averages around Rs 7,000 for a 1BHK) and it has plenty of eateries and bakeries. Water supply is reported as inconsistent and parking is the weakest-rated item on NoBroker.
Good
- Biocon Hebbagodi metro station and Biocon's campus on the doorstep
- Low rents, with 1BHKs averaging around Rs 7,000 on NoBroker
- Hebbagodi Lake was restored by Biocon and Syngene as a CSR project
Watch out for
- ! Water supply reported as still needing improvement
- ! Parking is limited
- ! Far end of the corridor, so road trips to Silk Board are the longest

Renting in Electronic City: FAQs
How long is the commute to Infosys, Wipro, HCLTech or Biocon if I live in Electronic City?▾
Short, which is the main reason to live here. From Neeladri Nagar, Doddathoguru or Phase 1 most campuses are a 10 to 15 minute auto or bike ride, and many people walk. Biocon is next to the Biocon Hebbagodi metro station, and Phase 2 offices like TCS and Tech Mahindra are near Konappana Agrahara or Huskur Road stations. Expect longer at 9 to 10 am when campus gates and Hosur Road back up.
How do I get to Koramangala or Outer Ring Road from Electronic City?▾
By car, the elevated expressway to Silk Board takes about 20 to 30 minutes off-peak but can pass an hour at office time, and from July 2026 it costs Rs 65 one way or Rs 1,960 a month for a car. From Silk Board you still have Koramangala or ORR traffic to deal with, so 45 to 90 minutes to Bellandur or Marathahalli at peak is realistic. By metro, the Yellow Line gets you from Electronic City to Central Silk Board station in roughly 15 minutes, then you need an auto or bus. Heavy rain can jam even the expressway: on 16 Sep 2026 water on the flyover caused a 7 km backup. (area-level)
Is the metro running, and how often?▾
Yes. The Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra opened in August 2025 with stations at Hosa Road, Beratena Agrahara, Electronic City, Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara, Huskur Road, Biocon Hebbagodi and Bommasandra. As of late July 2026 trains ran about every 7 minutes at peak and 10 minutes off-peak, with BMRCL aiming for about 5 minutes once all 15 trains are in. RV Road links to the Green Line; the Silk Board interchange with the airport line is not open yet. (area-level)
Is it easy for bachelors to rent or find a PG?▾
Yes, more so than most of Bengaluru. The area is dominated by young IT staff, and Neeladri Nagar, Doddathoguru and Konappana Agrahara are full of PGs, co-living houses and owners who rent to bachelors. PG beds in Neeladri Nagar run roughly Rs 6,000 to 16,000 a month depending on sharing. Gated societies in Phase 1 can be stricter, so ask about society rules before paying a deposit. (area-level)
Is Electronic City safe late at night, and does it flood?▾
Inside the ELCITA township, campus security and street lighting are better than average, and NoBroker residents rate Phase 1 and Konappana Agrahara well on safety. Outside it, some narrow lanes are poorly lit, so check the walk from the main road to your door at night. On flooding, Hosur Road between Silk Board and Rupena Agrahara was closed by police in May 2025, Neeladri Nagar and Hosa Road were waterlogged in October 2025, and the expressway flooded in September 2026. Prefer upper floors and avoid low-lying lanes. (area-level)
What does a 1BHK or 2BHK cost, and what about water?▾
On NoBroker's 2026 locality pages, a 1BHK runs from about Rs 7,000 in Konappana Agrahara, Hebbagodi or Hosa Road up to Rs 18,000 to 30,000 for newer Phase 1 flats, and a 2BHK from about Rs 12,000 to 45,000. Much of the area depends on borewells and tankers, and hard water is a common complaint, so ask the owner about water source, softener or RO, and tanker costs in summer before you sign. (area-level)
